From Hopeless to Healing: Regaining Control with EBS!

I can’t thank Yalda enough for the help she has given me.

At the start of my journey, I felt nauseous every day. I had episodes of fainting and vomiting, and I felt really hopeless.

I had previously been diagnosed with Coeliac Disease and Vasovagal Syncope Syndrome. My symptoms were unusual, and I had been to so many doctors. Nothing was making me feel better, and I was scared that nothing ever would.

After just a few weeks of working with Yalda, I started to feel better. Not only did my symptoms begin to improve, but I felt like I had more control over them when they occurred. Mentally, I was more relaxed, and my skin even cleared up.

From Flare-Ups to Freedom!

After being diagnosed with ongoing gut health issues, I couldn’t find anything that truly helped reduce the symptoms. I suffered from severe bloating, constant discomfort, brain fog, and had little to no energy.

I have followed you for a long time and have always loved your feed!

About three months ago I signed up to the lifestyle, and it is the best money I have ever spent.

I contracted Lyme Disease last September from a tick bite. Despite an early diagnosis and treatment, I kept experiencing flare-ups: sore joints, tingling hands and feet, migraines and light sensitivity. Overindulgence Recovery Protocol

If you are prone to emotional eating, read through this section to help set some coping mechanisms and reduce the occurrence of binges. You can also start by watching this video demonstrating a good routine after overindulging.

1. Let go of guilt

Guilt is a counterproductive and destructive emotion. You have enjoyed yourself; you know how to get back on track, so let go of what’s happened in the past and look forward. You are about to reset your body and mindset, and you should feel amazing again soon.

2. The first day is the hardest

The first day of getting back into healthier habits is the hardest.

You might crave whatever you have overindulged on. It can be sugar, white bread, or alcohol. I advise you not to go cold turkey if this is how you feel. If you are desperate for sugar, have a date or fruit.

Similarly, you might find it harder to reduce portions. If you feel this way, visualize smaller portions and food from the green lists only on your plate from day 2 and ease yourself into day 1.

Your cravings on day 1 of the reset can be caused by fluctuating blood sugar levels linked to the foods you’ve been eating. The aim is to stabilize your blood sugar levels and improve your gut flora, which helps reduce cravings, chronic inflammation, and energy levels.

If you still have intense cravings on day 1 or need an extra snack, check the allowed snack list and gradually reduce your sugar and food intake. The cravings section can help you overcome this challenging time, so check it out.

3. Lie down as much as you can

Lying down is the best-kept secret to reducing inflammation and water retention.

Lying down helps:

  • support the lymphatic system
  • kick in the parasympathetic nervous system
  • reduce swelling
  • promote digestive health
  • reduce inflammation
  • calm your system down; healing can happen
4. Just get back on the program

Do not restrict your food intake more than advised in the meal planner. The best thing is to go back and do the reset with three meals a day, plenty of fluids, and keeping up to one coffee a day if you like. Green tea is best for reducing inflammation and promoting fat burning, but coffee also has plenty of properties, and you can keep one cup per day.

The body is wired to consume a certain number of calories per day, so restricting calories during the day increases the chances of binging in the evening. Extreme calorie restriction invariably leads to bingeing episodes, so get back on the program.

Keep a positive mindset, focusing on nourishing your body rather than depriving it.

This reset is a beautiful time to nourish, rest, reboot your system, and feel amazing again very soon.

5. Move in moderation

It is tempting to start exercising a lot when you feel unhealthy, but this might worsen your inflammatory state. A body that’s already quite inflamed will perceive any form of pain as an inflammatory trigger.

Get back to walking and start including gentle movements, such as the beginner movement videos from the platform. Do some yoga and beginner strength videos, and work on stretching your body.

The body tends to stiffen when inflamed, so working on making the energy flow around your body again is a good starting point in the first week.

By the second week of you getting back on track, you can include intermediate or advanced movement routines.

6. Self-monitor your weight

Studies have shown that using a scale daily helps support weight loss efforts (Steinberg, et al., 2013).

If you have gained weight and your goal is to lose it, ensure that you weigh yourself first thing after waking up, without clothes on, after going to the bathroom, and around the same time every day. Keeping track of your weight can help you keep up with your healthy routine and goals.

7. Use an infra-red sauna or blanket

Hydration is essential to support liver detoxification pathways and remove toxins from the body. Drink water throughout the day, following the hydration advice.

You can add slices of lemon, cucumber, and fresh mint to your water for some variety.

Herbal teas are also fantastic for keeping you regular and supporting your kidney and liver functions.

Herbal teas present different healing properties, which might help you get back on track:

  • Fennel tea can support a healthy digestive function and soothe acidity.
  • Dandelion tea and nettle tea can support the detoxification pathways and lower water retention.
  • Peppermint tea can support the digestive system (avoid it if you have acid reflux).
  • Cinnamon tea helps stabilize blood sugar levels.
  • Licorice tea can be invigorating for a caffeine-free energy kick.
  • Rosebud tea and chamomile tea have calming properties.
9. Visualize a healthy body

It is imperative to use positive visualizations to support your healing efforts. If you think, “I am unhealthy,” “I am overweight,” and similarly negative thoughts, chances are your body will listen to you.

Our brain is our most powerful tool, so use it wisely! Include your morning and evening meditation routines and watch the videos in the mental wellness section.

Include positive visualization in your everyday thoughts. For example, see your body moving freely, sleeping well, and fitting in that pair of jeans that are a little tight at the moment.

Think of a time when you were feeling your best, and try to recreate that feeling in your head during your morning and evening meditations and at any given time of day. This will help your brain tap into neuroplasticity and reach your goal faster!

If you don’t have a bath, make sure you soak your feet in a footbath with warm water and magnesium. Magnesium ions will not only rest your feet and, in turn, your body and mind but will help draw out toxins.

10. Keep your efforts up

Once you have reached your goals, ensure you keep up with your efforts to lock in your results! For example, if your goal was better digestive health or a certain weight, keep that good state of health for a consecutive 21 days so your body sees that as your “normal” state.

In the case of gut health, the longer your tummy is settled, the more stable your digestion will be, even if you have treats. When it comes to weight, it has been shown that the body has “weight memory” and tends to revert to the weight it has been for the most time.

Stabilizing your weight or being at a plateau is excellent news as your body “forgets” your previous less healthy weight.
