Migraine Reduction Success Story
Edith is a happily married woman with three beautiful children aged eighteen, ten, and eight. She works part-time, and life is busy juggling family, work, and school commitments.
She has always considered herself “healthy” by eating home-cooked meals, rarely having fast food, intermittent fasting occasionally, eating organic where possible, seeing a naturopath regularly, and taking supplements for general well-being.
Edith has been watchful with her health as she had colitis as a child, experiencing mild digestive issues. She also has PCOS but was able to conceive three children without intervention.
Several years ago, she began experiencing migraines once in a while. Over time, they started to increase in frequency to about once every four weeks and then almost every second week. These lasted for about two or three days. They were debilitating and left her drained of energy.
Initially, when the migraines were occasional, they occurred at the same time as her menstrual cycle. Edith’s first recourse was her naturopath, who prescribed supplements to address the migraines. In addition, she was to try to avoid certain foods leading up to a period, continue eating as “clean” as she could, and reduce stress/tension. This migraine treatment plan eased the severity of her migraines temporarily, but they began to increase in frequency after a while.
At this point, she saw her GP, who prescribed Rizatriptan. This migraine medication worked well, and she continued to take the supplements, but again, over time, the migraines increased in frequency.
Edith was unhappy about having to medicate so regularly, as she felt she was barely getting over one migraine, and another would start. She also became increasingly concerned about her future: would the migraines become even more debilitating, and would she need stronger medication?
She wanted to find a solution to stop migraines altogether or at least minimize their severity and frequency. She also began feeling puffy/bloated, unenergised, and unmotivated.
When Edith felt relatively low, she caught up with a friend who mentioned Eat Burn Sleep. She began following Yalda on Instagram, and it was the first time she had encountered the term “chronic inflammation”. Everything that Yalda spoke about made complete sense to her, and after researching the subject, she felt that the lifestyle could help her. It was most definitely worth a try.
Edith signed up to Eat Burn Sleep and began the Six Week Reset. The day she started the reset, she had a severe migraine that lasted four days. It wasn’t easy, but it made her all the more determined to do it.
Edith stopped her supplements on the reset and followed the advice to reduce migraines. There were several social events during this time, but she remembered Yalda’s wise words, which made all the difference:
“It’s not about perfection but damage limitation.”
By the third week, Edith felt energized, lighter, and able to sleep better at night. By the end of the six weeks, she felt fantastic, had lost 11kgs, and had not had a migraine!
People commented on how well she looked, and Edith said it was about how well she felt. She continues to follow the lifestyle 80/20, sometimes less. She does experience migraines occasionally, but she is completely happy with her current lifestyle balance.
